The most compact and restrained grower among Jasminum sambac cultivars, forming a tidy, slow-growing shrub well suited to patios and containers. Produces small, delicate double-form blooms generously, combining the double flower form with elongated, Maid-of-Orleans-like petal character. Intensely fragrant. A refined Arabian Jasmine selection with elegant, elongated petals for a more slender, delicate single-to-semi-double bloom than the classic Maid of Orleans form (an 'Elongata' form with even longer petals is also grown). Summer Soul (R) (Jasminum sambac 'Monhariklia', PP#27,171) is a compact, fast-growing patented selection bearing large, highly scented, fully double white blooms from spring through summer - nearly year-round in mild, frost-free climates. Glossy evergreen foliage. Prefers full sun to partial sun with protection from harsh afternoon sun inland; enriched, evenly moist, well-drained soil, with acid fertilizer in early spring and a post-bloom prune to shape. Excellent as a border, hedge, or patio container specimen; non-toxic to cats and dogs. Fragrance: Highly fragrant.
